To create a metal print, your photograph will first be printed onto a sheet of metal using a large-format printer. The image will then be cut to size and sealed with a glossy finish. The resulting print is durable, scratch-resistant, and waterproof.
Metal prints are a great way to add personality and style to your home. They work well in both modern and traditional spaces. Metal prints can be displayed either with or without a frame. If you choose not to display the metal print behind glass, we recommend displaying them in an area that will not receive direct sunlight (e.g., above a couch, above a bed, etc.).
The printing process is rather complex. Below are the steps are taken to create a metal print:
1. A high-resolution photograph is selected from our library of images or submitted by you for review and approval. Our team of professional photographers has experience shooting on all types of cameras including DSLR cameras, rangefinder cameras, ILC (interchangeable lens camera), and large format 4×5.
2. The photograph is then color corrected by our expert imaging team to bring out the most detail in shadows & highlights while maintaining overall image vibrancy.
3. The art staff works with the photographer to ensure the correct composition of images.
4. The image is then resized to a ratio that is in proportion with the sheet of metal it will be printed on. For example, a wide-angle photograph may be enlarged to 16×24 or 20×30 whereas a portrait may go from 10″x15″ up to 24″ x 36″. Once the print has been cut to size, the colors are adjusted again for best results.
5. The photo is then printed onto a sheet of aluminum or high-end stainless steel using our state-of-the-art large format printers. These printers use inks that can be safely submerged into the water without fading or scratching over time making metal prints perfect for kitchens and bathrooms.
6. Finally, the metal is coated with a glossy finish and then cut to size and packaged for shipment.
